When the entrepreneurial spark ignites a new passion, it’s not to be ignored.
I understand that well, and yet I find myself here at a crossroads of change feeling both excited for the passion-filled future and sad to say goodbye to what has been.
This time, however, the new entrepreneurial spark isn’t only mine I’m thinking of. It’s Shannon’s.
For the past two years it has been a privilege to have Shannon Shields as the Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Wired Flare. She became the company face at Nova Scotia events when I moved away, and her creative talents have been instrumental in helping me design and implement new strategies and programs to drive our growth.
While many of you reading this may know Shannon as the smiling face you have talked with at events or the knowledgeable trainer who has supported you, you may not know that at heart, Shannon is a maker. She loves to make, and her home is a haven for making. She cooks, she bakes, she pickles, she cans…and she sews.
And Oh, the places she goes when she sews.
That’s her happy place. That’s her calling. That’s what she is now going to be doing full time.
Shannon’s company, which she co-owns with her mom Karen Hill, is called Soft Kitty Cloth, and it produces reusable cloth feminine products.
Developed by cloth pad enthusiasts; Mother and Daughter, Karen and Shannon, Soft Kitty strives to meet the needs of all women, with periods or without!
Sneeze Pees? Laugh Leaks? Cough Drop-lets? We’ve got you covered!
That time of the month? We’ve got you covered there too!
Why add to the discomfort when you can feel secure in a pad that is as comfortable as your own undies!
We’ve developed Soft Kitty by taking the features we love most in (the many) other pads we’ve tested and combining them into one!

As for me…well, I’m going to miss Shannon dearly. Not only did I have the privilege of having her on my work team. I was also blessed to have her as my neighbor and my very dear friend. We’ve been there for each other during periods of loss and great joy and everything in between. We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve stumbled and we’ve shared many glasses of wine. I will so miss working with her every day. However, I relish in the joy that she will always be my friend and a soul sister I will treasure forever.
So many memories…and I know there will be many more.
Thank you, Shannon, for everything you have given to Wired Flare the past two years and all you have given to me as a friend. I’ll be cheering you on as you sew your success.
